Leavengood, Dauval & Boyle, PA is pleased to announce that its own managing partner, Ian R. Leavengood, has been named the President of the University of Florida's College of Law Alumni Council.
The University of Florida Law Alumni Council ("LAC") is comprised of UF Law graduates who volunteer their time and resources to the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Two times a year, the LAC meets in Gainesville to discuss the state of the law school as well as discusses way to assist with both alumni involvement and financial support.
The Law Alumni Council, founded in 1983, and Law Center Association Inc. Board of Trustees, founded in 1960, are the primary support and advisory boards for the law school. Both assist with raising private funds to cover expenses not met through state support, tuition or endowment income.
Two specific projects that the UF LAC undertakes is the "Law Firm Giving" program and "Call 10." Law Firm Giving entails trying to solicit charitable contributions from UF Law Grads that work at a particular firm. Firms that achieve 100% participation are recognized in the UF Law® magazine and acknowledged at the annual Law School Board of Trustees Fall meeting. Call 10 is a program that encourages UF Law alums to call their classmates and other graduates to encourage their support of the law school.
"Soliciting contributions to the law school is not always popular or easy," said incoming LAC President Ian R. Leavengood, BS '95, MAcc '95, JD '00. "But alumni financial support is critical to ensure that the University of Florida Levin College of Law can remain in the upper tier of public law schools and provide the programming needed for its graduates to not only be competitive but excel in today's marketplace."
The 2011-2012 Law Alumni Council Executive Committee is made up of Ian R. Leavengood, immediate Past President, Matthew Posgay (JD '94), President Elect, Taylor Rose (JD '98) and Secretary Brian Burgoon (JD 97)
The University of Florida Levin College of Law continues to be Florida's best law school and rank in the top tier of law schools across the United States according to US News & World Report.
