Although the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and its affiliate program, Leadership St. Pete (LSP), just recently celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2012, LSP is already making preparations for its incoming Class of 2013. The first step in that process is selecting a Planning Committee, and Leavengood, Dauval & Boyle, PA is pleased to announce that its own managing partner, Ian R. Leavengood, has been appointed to the Planning Committee for a third term.
Ian graduated from LSP in 2007, and was on LSP’s Planning Committee in both 2008 and 2009. This year, in addition to mentoring the members of the Class of 2013, Ian will plan and host a seminar on our St. Petersburg’s Local Government that will include the mayor of St. Petersburg, Bill Foster, and some of its city council members, as well as other elected and appointed officials. Upon Ian’s acceptance of the appointment, Chairman of LSP 2013, J. Kurt Peterson, expressed his appreciation for Ian’s involvement, saying, “LSP is grateful for Ian’s contributions including hundreds of volunteer hours and invaluable resources. Many thanks to Ian and Leavengood, Dauval & Boyle, PA for its continued financial support of Leadership St. Pete.”
As part of one of the oldest leadership programs in the United States, the LSP members work together to develop community leaders through its intensive six-month program, which culminates in a large project to benefit a local nonprofit organization. According to LSP’s website, the program is “designed to promote and enhance community leadership through an in-depth introduction to social, economic, business and political issues in the St. Petersburg area.” LSP program applications will be available on the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce’s website (http://www.stpete.com) starting August 30, 2012. If you think you (or someone you know) would be interested in applying for Leadership St. Petersburg but would like some additional information on the program, experience, time commitments, etc., you are invited to attend one of Leadership St. Petersburg’s upcoming information sessions. The information sessions will be held between 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the St. Pete Chamber boardroom on September 6, 2012; September 11, 2012; and September 13, 2012.
