Robert E. Heyman

Robert is a native of Barrington, RI. Following graduation from Barrington High School (1974) and Northfield Mt. Hermon Academy in Northfield, MA(1975), he moved to St. Petersburg, FL to attend Eckerd College (B.A. Political Science 1979) and Stetson University College of Law (J.D. 1982). Following graduation, Robert served as an Assistant State Attorney for Pinellas County for 15 years. As a prosecutor, he moved rapidly through the office and ultimately served as Felony Division Director from 1992 to 1997. During his tenure, he handled a wide variety of cases including drug trafficking, fraud-based crimes, vehicular homicides, as well as capital murder.

Over the last 29 years, Robert has drawn from his criminal law experience in his civil trial practice, where he focuses on plaintiff’s personal injury cases including auto negligence, premises liability, negligent security, and wrongful death. He prides himself as being an aggressive advocate for his clients,  and personally manages their cases through trial if necessary.  

Background

Since re-locating to Florida in 1975, Robert has put down strong roots in St. Petersburg. He attended Eckerd College as a student-athlete where he played varsity baseball and was a pitcher on the 1977 team which reached the finals of the Division II College World Series.  Well into his career as an attorney, he continued to employ his baseball skills as a batting practice pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays from 2000-2002. Robert and his wife Lorrie reside in St. Petersburg and have two daughters -Lindsay and Kylie- who currently live in New York City where they are both professional stage performers. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling with Lorrie, is an avid golfer and also plays a fairly decent guitar.
